Terms of Service

1. The Service

Gearlist ("we", "our", or "us") provides a digital inventory management service for musicians and gear owners. The service allows you to catalog your equipment, store photos and documentation, mark items as stolen, and access a public stolen gear registry.

By using Gearlist, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activities that occur under it.

We use Supabase for authentication. Your email address is used solely for account access and important service notifications.

3. User Content

You retain all rights to the content you upload (photos, descriptions, serial numbers). By using Gearlist, you grant us permission to store and display this content as necessary to provide the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload all content you submit. Do not upload content that:

• Infringes on others' intellectual property rights
• Contains false or misleading information
• Violates any applicable laws or regulations
• Contains malicious code or viruses

4. Stolen Gear Registry

Important: When you mark an item as stolen, it becomes publicly visible in our stolen gear search. This includes:

• Item name, brand, model, and type
• Serial number (searchable)
• Photos you've uploaded
• Location and date of theft

Anonymous users may submit tips about stolen items. We forward these tips to you but are not responsible for their accuracy or usefulness. Exercise caution when responding to tips.

Do not mark items as stolen fraudulently. False reports may result in account termination and potential legal consequences.

5. Subscriptions

Gearlist offers free and paid subscription tiers. Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy, our merchant of record. By subscribing, you also agree to LemonSqueezy's terms of service.

Your payment information (including name, address, ZIP code) is stored by LemonSqueezy in the United States. We have completed a Transfer Impact Assessment (TIA) to ensure GDPR compliance for EU users.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. You may cancel at any time from your profile settings. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data using automated means
• Submit spam or abuse the tip submission system
• Impersonate others or provide false information
• Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm others

7. Disclaimer

Gearlist is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• That the service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• That your stolen gear will be recovered
• The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of user-submitted content
• That the service meets your specific requirements

Gearlist is not a replacement for insurance or police reports. We strongly recommend filing official police reports and maintaining proper insurance coverage for your equipment.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gearlist and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon deletion, your gear inventory and photos will be permanently removed.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the service.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email and require you to accept the new terms before continuing to use the service.

Continued use of Gearlist after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
